ADOPT US KIDS
November 26th, 2007 by admin
Adopt Us Kids is a site that is maintained by the Children’s Bureau. This site was instituted in order to assist interested individuals in the adoption of a child from the United States foster care system. The need for faster families and permanent families is very great, with over 500,000 children currently in foster care in the U.S. currently. More than 113,000 of these children must be placed into a permanent home because parental rights have been terminated. Currently, the AEA, or Adoption Exchange Association, has been chosen by the Children’s Bureau to lead these efforts by heading Adopt Us Kids. The collaboration was a joint one that involved several adoption agencies throughout the United States. The collaboration was enacted to ensure that no child in the United States be left without a family to come home to.
The efforts of Adopt Us Kids have proven quite fruitful for the children involved since the agencies have banded together to attempt to recruit more interest in adopting a U.S. child. The AEA’s CEO reported that, within the first 5 years of integrating the joint effort, over 8,000 children that had been listed on the site were put into permanent adoptive homes. This joint collaboration plans to enhance their efforts by integrating additional training days for staff, creating a one stop for information center, implement the use of both English and Spanish websites, and create a more effective and easier to repeat respite program to help those parents hoping to adopt as well as those who have already done so.
The huge database of children who are waiting to be placed into permanent homes has, within the last 5 years, had just about 40,000 families seek more information on adoption of United States children and their efforts have already generated more than one hundred and fifty million dollars in donated space for advertisement.
